Tri Talk's blog

Have you trained on the course yet?

Now that August is here, training activity has picked up at Scotts Flat Lake. It's exciting to see women (and oftentimes their male supporters/training partners) swimming in the lake, riding Pasquale Rd and running the course. Nearly every morning now there are women up at the lake for a swim and/or ride. If you haven't gotten out there yet, never fear, there is still plenty of time.

If you've attended other clinics so far this year, let us know what you think. Are they helpful? What more would you like to see? We'd love the feedback!

For sports nutrition, pay attention to the basics

EDITORS NOTE: The BSM Triathlon Committee would like to welcome home Elizabeth Legg. She was the first recipient of the BSM Memorial Scholarship and has returned to the community to practice as a nutritionist at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. Elizabeth will also provide valuable information about nutrition for all of you in training. This is the first of many posts from her. Enjoy!

Sports nutrition can get very complex and specific, but attention to the basics will take you far.

Thank you to all those who have already registered! Your participation in the BSM Triathlon makes a difference in your health as well as the health of others. Last year, funds raised through the BSM Triathlon helped 125 women receive breast health care at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.

Welcome returning tri-athletes and newcomers! There are some changes this year, including with our clinics, be sure to check it out on the site. Returning athletes can also benefit from the clinics, including a revised first-timers/training clinic at Club Sierra this summer. Check back often as we're working on improving communication through this blog. We'll offer reminders, advice and resources as you hit the ground running, riding and swimming on triathlon training!
