An Annual Benefit Event

Empowering all Women, By Women, In honor of 1 Woman!

The funds raised from this event benefit the Women’s Imaging Center at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, targeting women who cannot afford their annual mammogram, and to the Barbara Schmidt Millar Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to female high school graduates of Nevada Union High School pursuing an education in the healthcare profession.

For 24 years, our event has been the Barbara Schmidt Millar Celebration of Life “Triathlon”. Due to low lake levels, the 2015 event was a “Duathlon”. Although most aspects of the event were the same – familiar place, time, and overall epic experience, some things were a little different. For starters, no one wore those colorful swim caps or took the plunge into the cool lake. But there was still plenty of sweat, joy, and triumph, capped with a feel-good experience. 2016 marked the return of the original event, and 2019 marked our 25th year! This was the perfect time to introduce our new 25th anniversary logo. We also modified our name a bit to Barbara Schmidt Millar Women’s Triathlon & 5K, “Celebrating Life & Empowering Women”!  Sadly, 2020 proved to be a challenge in every sense of the word for everyone across this great nation and the world. We are so grateful to be back in 2021 with our 26th Annual Event. So, “Let’s Celebrate Life” together, after all if 2020 taught us anything, it’s that we have a lot to be thankful for!
